Came with batteries installed, along with 2 spare batteries. Ran great right out of the box. The cat loves it. It is very quiet when in the water, though it makes a small amount of noise tapping the glass. In a large bathtub the swim pattern was random. A small round container did not work well and the fish pretty much swam in circles. In either container, the fish seemed to dive a bit then swim back up. The cat was chewing on its tail, and it still works great.

These are really cute. I bought them for my cat but she did not even notice them swimming. So now I don’t know what to do with them.

This is definitely better than the Hexbot. It is not as likely to get stuck in corners, although it does sometimes. It is also more likely to swim in the middle of the tank. I liked that it comes with replacement batteries. This is a quality toy.

My cat loves it. When she gets tired and heads off for a nap, I take it out of the water I shake it a couple of times, dry it with a microfiber cloth and put it in a warm spot. Good clean fun!
